Cork advantage:
·It is the most primitive and still the most widely used wine, especially the wine that needs to be aged in bottles.
·Cork can gradually let a small amount of oxygen into the wine bottle, so that the wine can achieve the best balance between the first and third types of aroma that the winemaker wants.
Disadvantages:
·A few wines that use corks are contaminated with corks. In addition, a certain proportion of corks will allow more oxygen to enter the wine bottle as the wine ages, causing the wine to oxidize.
Cork taint:
Cork pollution is caused by a chemical called TCA (Trichlorobenzene methyl ether). Some corks containing this substance will bring moldy cardboard flavor to wine.
Screw cap advantage:
·Good sealing and low cost
·Screw cap does not contaminate wine
·Screw cap can retain the fruit flavor of wine longer than cork, so screw cap is more and more widely used in wines where winemakers expect to retain a class of aroma.
Disadvantages:
Since the screw cap cannot allow oxygen to penetrate, it is controversial whether it is suitable for storing wine that needs to be aged in a bottle for a long time.
